The Library

The Airborne Sound library has over 18,000 sound effects featuring luscious ambiences, International as well as North American signature recordings, planes, trains, industrial effects and machinery and much more.

Our collective of editors and sound designers are creating new sounds every day. We deliver fresh sound clips that we've used in our projects.

Thousands of hours of professional effort has contributed to the Airborne Sound library. For each hour of audio we share with you, we have spent roughly eight hours field recording, mastering and curating the sounds.

This means every sound effect you download from our website is vetted by pros who love sound effects.

Field Recording

Our field recordists have traveled around the world recording sound effects. It's what we love. There's nothing else we'd rather do than record cool sounds and share them with you.

We specialize in recording atmospheres. We love creating evocative recordings of people, distant places and landscapes that transport the listener to another place via audio alone.

How does this help you? We believe the effort we take capturing the best sound effects will add extra nuance and character to make your projects shine.

Mastering

Sound effects creation doesn't end at the microphone. Airborne Sound's professional mastering technicians evaluate every sound that appears in the library.

All substandard sound effects are trashed. We do not want to use poor sounds in our projects and we don't want to sell them to you. Only the coolest, most interesting and provocative sound clips are kept.

For sounds that show promise but may need a bit of help, our sound editors diligently scrub and polish each sound effect to perfection. Artifacts such as clicks, pops and buzzes are removed.

The result? Smooth sound effects you can actually use that will slip effortlessly into your productions.

Curating

What good is a sound if you can't find it?

Our pro sound librarians have described, cataloged and ingested almost half a million sound files for our own library and our clients.

Most sound libraries just provide you with a sound file name. Airborne Sound tags each sound with category, subcategory, description, location and more.

This information helps you search faster and smarter, ensuring you'll find the right sound and get back to business.

We provide this information in free databases. We also wrap every one of our sound effects in invisible, bonus Soundminer metadata. Sounds with metadata are used normally. However, when browsed with iTunes or the Soundminer app, the bonus information appears.
