Q. How do I listen to the sound preview?
A. Click the play button arrow:
After a moment you will hear a sample of the sound effect in the player. It will look like this:
Drag the black band left and right to jump ahead in the sound. The current time will appear in the center of the player.
The black and green spikes on the outside display the spectrum of the sound. The blue spikes on the inside display the waveform.
Q. I can't see a play button. What do I do?
A. Airborne Sound requires the Adobe Flash player version 9 or higher. You will need to download this plugin for your browser to hear the sounds.
- click here to download the Flash plugin. The plugin will automatically install in your browser after downloading
- restart your browser (this may happen automatically)
- return to Airborne Sound and you will be able to preview the sounds
Q. Why is someone saying 'airborne sound' in every sound?
A. That is a watermark. If you download a sample, the watermark will remind you that it came from Airborne Sound. It also helps us fight piracy. Rest assured, your delivered files will be watermark-free.
Q. Will the watermark be in the purchased file?
A. No.
Q. What is the quality of the sound preview?
A. The preview is a 44.1 kHz, 192 bit stereo MP3 Flash file. Your delivered sounds will sound even better! They are 44.1 kHz stereo WAV files.
Q. What is the type and quality of the purchased file?
A. Your final file is a CD quality WAV file. This means it is 44.1 kHz and stereo. Stereo refers to two independent audio channels, one for the left, one for the right.
They can be used on both Apple Macs and Microsoft Windows PCs. More sound files formats will be available soon.
Q. I'm using iMovie/Adobe Elements/Movie Maker, etc. I'm using a Apple/PC. Will the sound effect work with this software?
A. Sound effects downloads from Airborne Sound are in a stereo WAV format. This is friendly with PCs, Linux and Apple Mac operating systems.
WAV files are popular. They're compatible with the vast majority of software. Check the software manual to see for certain which types of audio file formats it supports. Or search Google for "[software name] audio format".
Q. I'd really like HD sound effects. Can you send me HD versions of the files?
A. Yes, of course. Our library is mostly recorded at 96kHz, 24-bit. Email us your order number and we will send you high-resolution sound files, free of charge.
If you require versions at a specific resolution, please let us know. We're happy to provide custom versions if you need them.
Q. The Airborne Sound Jet Sets are offered in MP3, WAV and HD. What is the quality of the HD files?
A. The HD versions are at the highest natural resolution available. In other words, the resolution at which the sounds were recorded.
While most packs are 96 kHz, 24-bit, some are 48 kHz, 16-bit. Each collection will specify the quality on its page.
Additionally, some have bonus channels embedded in the sound file.
No up-sampling has been applied. (Up-sampling delivers low sample rate sounds disguised as HD clips. We never do this.)
Q. What about different file formats? Can I have a MP3 or AIF file instead?
A. Yes, certainly. We will convert your order to any file format you wish, completely free of charge. Email us your order number and the file format you need and we will send you links to alternate versions of your sounds.
