How to Record Vehicles: Specifics

Recording vehicles is one the most challenging recording assignments one can receive. This is because:

multiple perspectives must be recorded at once: interior, exterior and onboard
recording vehicles properly requires an ideal enviornment: a dry, quiet place with lots of space
vechicles are complex machines and can be plauged by mechanical problems
many details must be painstakenly captured

Vehicle sounds can be designated in two broad categories. This week we will examine vehicle specifics. In the following weeks we will look at driving sounds.
